How To Fill A Paintball Tank At Home: A Proven Guide

If you are a paintball enthusiast, you know the importance of having a certified and filled paintball tank ready to go. With the right tools and preparation, you can do all the work yourself and get your tank safely filled at home. To save time and money and equip yourself with the needed supplies, follow the steps outlined here.

Get the Right Equipment

The first step in the process is to make sure you have all the necessary equipment. The primary component you will need is an approved carbon dioxide (CO2) tank, along with pressurized CO2. You should also have the same type of tank for your paintball marker, a 12-ounce CO2 cartridge to be used as an adapter, and a tank cover. It is important to note that due to air regulations, you can only fill the tank with CO2 or higher-pressure compressed air.

Attach the Hose to the CO2 Tank

Once you have all the supplies, you will need to attach the hose to the CO2 tank in the proper manner. First, check the pressure of the CO2 tank. Next, place your tank in the opposite hand from the regulator. Attach the CO2 adapter to the tapped end of the hose and screw it onto the tank's valve. Using an open-end wrench, open up the valve until it is just barely open, then put it back to the original setting.

Attach the Quick Disconnects

Connect the narrow side of the quick-disconnect fitting to the short piece of hose and the wider side onto the filler adapter. Make sure the quick-disconnects are secure before filling the tank. After they are in place, attach the adapter to the gun marker and drop the pressure down to 50 psi.

Fill the Tank

Place the long piece of hose onto the fill valve and pump the marker by pulling the trigger until the internal pressure registers to just below the number 350 psi, the maximum capacity of the tank. From this stage on, you should fill the tank slowly and stop as soon as the pressure reaches 350 psi. Lastly, remove the adapter and turn off the tank before using the CO2 in the tank.
